Upcoming’s data is yours to use
Upcoming is an open calendar of dated public facts: events, games, releases, launches and deadlines, and the organizations, teams, venues, leagues and artists behind them. Each item has a stable address and id, an exact time with its timezone, a status, and its source. Read it freely, link to it, build on it, and tell us when a date is wrong.
Licence
- Facts are public domain. What is happening, when and where, its status, and the pages involved are dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0. Use them for anything, including search, AI answers and training, with no permission needed.
- Descriptions Upcoming writes are CC BY 4.0: name Upcoming and link the item. A description an organization wrote stays theirs.
- Not covered: names, logos and photos, which belong to their owners, and sports schedules from league feeds and TheSportsDB. Read and cite those, but don’t copy them in bulk to republish them.
Naming Upcoming and linking the item isn’t required for the facts, but we ask for it: it’s how people find the latest when a date changes. A good citation is “Source: Upcoming, link, as of date”.
Getting the data
- Every page. Each upcoming (
/upcoming/{id}) and page (/p/{handle}) carries its facts as plain text and schema.org JSON-LD, readable without running any script. - The sitemap. upcoming-now.com/sitemap.xml lists every listed page and upcoming with when it last changed, so you fetch only what changed.
- The API. A free, read-only JSON API with no key: upcoming-now.com/api/v1, described in OpenAPI and, for AI agents, in llms.txt. Up to 120 requests a minute from one address.
- Bulk downloads of the whole catalogue are on the way.
What’s in it
Only what Upcoming lists publicly: pages that Upcoming maintains, curators, and verified organizations, with their own public upcomings. Pages someone made but hasn’t verified, private and unlisted items, and anything about people’s accounts are never included.
Corrections
Dates change. If one is wrong, use “Claim or correct” on its page, or write to support@upcoming-now.com with a link to a source that shows the right one. If you run the organization, claim its page and keep it up to date yourself, or let your own agent do it.
